An Antique Victorian Sterling silver canteen of cutlery which has been designed in the Fiddle pattern style for twelve persons. This original set was hallmarked in London for 1872 by George Adams. It is rare to find a complete set of the same date and maker in the Victorian period. This set consists of :
12 x table forks : measuring 20.4 cms (8″) in length.
12 x dessert forks : measuring 17.3 cms (6.8″) in length.
12 x table (soup) spoons : measuring 22.9 cms (9″) in length.
12 x dessert spoons : measuring 18.1 cms (7.1″) in length.
12 x tea spoons : measuring 14.3 cms (5.6″) in length.
1 x soup ladle : measuring 33.4 cms (13.1″) in length.
1 x basting (serving) spoon : measuring 30.2 cms (11.9″) in length.
1 x sugar tongs : measuring 15.1 cms (5.9″) in length.
2 x salt spoons : measuring 10.5 cms (4.1″) in length.
12 x table knives : measuring 24.7 cms (9.7″) in length.
12 x dessert knives : measuring 22.2 cms (8.7″) in length.
This wonderful set would grace any dining table and would be a pleasure to use. It has been well cared for over the years and remains in pristine condition. There are 89 pieces in total and the set weighs 112.3 troy ounces (3,492 grams)without the silver handled knives. The silver handled knives were made in 2022 and bear the special hallmarks to commemorate the late Queen’s platinum jubilee. They compliment the set perfectly. Useful wraps have been provided to help keep the set clean and tidy.
