Description

An Antique Victorian Sterling silver canteen of cutlery which has been designed in the rat tail pattern and has been made for twelve persons.  This fine silver cutlery set fits neatly within an oak canteen  box and has been made to the highest standard, as one would expect from Elkington.  Each item from this “straight ” canteen is dated for 1897 and consists of :

12  x  table forks measuring 20.30 cms.

12  x  dessert forks measuring 18.50 cms.

12  x  dessert spoons measuring 17.50 cms.

12  x  teaspoons measuring 14.00 cms.

2  x  serving spoons measuring 21.00 cms.

2  x  sauce ladles measuring 18.80 cms.

1  x  pair of sugar tongs measuring 11.80 cms.

The canteen box measures : 49.70 cms  x  34.30 cms  x  14.50 cms.  There are 53 pieces of cutlery in total and there is a crest of intertwined initials on the front of each item which is part of the history of this lovely set.  It would be a pleasure to use and would look wonderful on the table.  We can obtain a quote for silver handled knives with stainless steel blades, if so desired.
