Description
A wonderful Antique Victorian Sterling silver canteen of cutlery which has been designed in the Fiddle pattern style for twelve persons. This original set was hallmarked in 1865 by George Adams. It is much harder to find a complete set of the same date and maker in the Victorian era and it consists of:
12 x table forks : measuring 21.7 cms (8.5″) in length.
12 x dessert forks : measuring 17.5 cms (6.9″) in length.
12 x table/soup spoons : measuring 22.4 cms (8.8″) in length.
12 x dessert spoons : measuring 18.2 cms (7.2″) in length.
12 x teaspoons : measuring 14.5 cms (5.7″) in length.
1 x soup ladle : measuring 34.2 cms (13.5″) in length.
1 x sauce ladle : measuring 18.1 cms (7.1″) in length.
12 x table knives : measuring 24.5 cms (9.6″) in length.
12 x dessert knives : measuring 21.6 cms (8.5″) in length.
This lovely set has been well cared for over the years and remains in excellent condition. It would look impressive when displayed on the table and would be a pleasure to use. There are 86 pieces in total and the set weighs 111.9 troy ounces (3,479 grams) without the silver handled knives. The knives were added in the year 2000 and were made by United Cutlers Ltd of Sheffield and they compliment the set perfectly. Useful wraps have also been provided to help keep the set clean and tidy.
