Description

An Antique Victorian Sterling silver wine ewer/jug which has a tall bulbous shaped body, a hinged lid with an attractive finial and resting on a raised circular foot.  The body of this wine ewer has been highly decorated with flowers, leaves and fruit and there is a head motif just below the base of the handle. There is so much detail on the body of this wine ewer that it would look interesting and eye catching when displayed.  It would be practical to use and would make an interesting addition to a collection.  The inside of the neck and lid have been nicely gilded and there is  crest on one side of the body.  This wine ewer/jug would hold 1.5 litres of wine, weighs 26.5 troy ounces (824 grams) and stands at 34.3 cms (13.5″) tall.

This silver wine ewer has been registered with the Government’s website to conform to the new rules concerning ivory. The submission number is : 76AAGATZ.
