Description

An Antique William IV Sterling silver serving dish/meat platter which is oval shape in design with a plain body with gadroon decoration around the edges and resting on a flat base. There is a crest on one side of the body and there are slight scratches on the body which is in keeping with an item that has been carefully used over time. This well made silver serving dish/meat platter would be perfect to use on the table and would make a useful addition to a Paul Storr collection.
The arms on the serving dish are those of Henry Preston of Moreby Hall. Yorkshire and his wife Maria Anna Crompton. daughter of Joshua Crompton of Esholt Hall. The couple married in 1814.
